Samhain 2023
The video below was filmed on November 5th to welcome Samhain, the season of Winter. Part of it was filmed on the road outside our house. Part in a narrow strip of woods which sits on the Tabular Hills. These woods overlook our home. In the wider context of the North Yorkshire Moors they are indirectly connected to Dalby Forest.
The mundane stuff of life was a real challenge. A lot was happening and seemed to be snowballing. I was missing autumn, my favourite time, the turning of the year. Even though I had problems walking, it was a day I just had to take off in search of solace, seeking peace amongst the trees.

Fagus meaning “to eat” seeds being edible. Sylvatica meaning “inhabiting woods”.
This short video explains where I’m going and gives a hint at the beauty of the glorious, stately beech trees I found. I had no idea they were here even though I can now recognise them from our home down in the valley. There is also something or someone else present in this video. I had no idea until I reviewed the footage. Having got this snippet of footage independently reviewed by someone I trust. Someone with more knowledge and experience than me. She confirms it to be legitimate. Wow, what a wonderful suprise. Having been back to the same spot last month, this someone was not present in the subsequent footage.
All I can say is you will have to wait until https://sylvanhowl.co.uk is further developed and I can begin to upload posts and video.
In the meantime I wonder if you can spot them.
