Imbolc
The Spring Quarter of Imbolc
Imbolc (pronounced Imm’ulk) begins 1st February to 30th April.

The season of spring is a time of gathering strength. It starts when the depths of Winter are begining to pass and small suprises are pushing through the earth. The trees still sleep but stirrings are happening within. Hope for the new season flourishes in the bright faces of early flowers and the sun is gaining in brightness and strength on it’s journey across the heavens. Often there can be a balmy day or two followed by chilly nights reminding us that winters grip is waning.
This Quarter relates to childhood, that time when things are enjoyed for their own sake and everything is questioned. It’s a time to appreciate innocence, truth and justice. The unfurling of the year, to plant internal and external seeds. To make plans and prepare. It’s a time to trust. Trust that all will unfold as it should and the seeds we plant literal and metaphorical will come to fruition.
Imbolc is the time of year to traditionally spring-clean surroundings and life-style. To reassess aims and objectives, to bring clarity and focus to plans for the year ahead.
As you travel the lands of Spring, some of the themes and gifts to consider are:
Insight, inspiration, beginings, truthfullness, questioning, celebrating life, planting seeds literal and metaphorical, making plans, preparation, trust, justice, innocence, hope, resolutions.
Song of Imbolc I am the unopened bud, and I the blossom, I am the life-force gathering to a crest, I am the still compaion of the silence, I am the far flung seeker of the quest, I am the daughter gathering in wisdom, I am the son whose questions never cease, I am the dawn-light searching out glad justice, I am the center where all souls find peace.
